Committee moves $250,000 for District 10 youth safety plan to full board

The Budget and Finance Committee voted unanimously to refer to the full Board an ordinance reappropriating $250,000 from the General City Responsibility fund to the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families to support District 10’s neighborhood safety plan.
Clerk Brent Khalifa read the item into the record, saying the funds would support services at Hope SF sites, violence prevention events and safe‑passage programs. Tracy Gallardo, representing Supervisor Shamone Walton, told the committee the District 10 safety plan was developed through community town halls and is designed to target youth most impacted by violence.
Nick Menard of the Budget and Legislative Analyst office described the appropriation as a reallocation within the general fund that would fund three existing positions at a nonprofit (two community developers, one violence interrupter) plus an intern to administer services primarily in District 10. The analyst recommended approval.
With no public speakers on the item, Chair Supervisor Connie Chan moved the ordinance to the Board with recommendation and the committee approved the referral by roll call (Dorsey, Sauter, Chan — all aye). The item will appear on the full Board agenda for consideration.
