Committee approves MassHealth/Medicaid passive-consent notice for student handbooks

Speaker 5 explained the change: "This needs to be added ... It doesn't have to be. It can be added, and it releases us of our obligation to get yearly consent forms. This means that ... the consent forms are the forms that we receive from families who we are providing Medicaid-eligible services for that we can bill for." The presenter said the notice would replace the need for separate annual signed consent forms for billing Medicaid-eligible services.
Speaker 3 moved to approve the notice and the committee voted to adopt the handbook addition. The change will be incorporated into the district handbooks and applies to the district’s early-childhood and K–12 handbooks as well as the daycare registration materials. The committee did not specify an implementing policy document in the meeting; the notice itself was described as the mechanism to allow passive consent for billing purposes.
