District to launch new visitor‑management system; soft launch March 3

Bloomfield Hills Schools administration told trustees that the district will implement a districtwide visitor‑management system to replace piecemeal paper sign‑ins.
Technology staff said the system will standardize check‑in across buildings, produce printed badges with photos, tie into the district's public‑address system and send emergency text alerts to visitors' phones. The administration plans an informational campaign beginning Feb. 11 and a soft launch March 3 timed to a quieter part of the school year.
"Essentially, what families need to know is that they have to bring their driver's license with them now when they're going into the building," a district presenter said, while clarifying the process applies to visitors during the school day when they leave the main office to go into school spaces. Evening events and volunteers have different procedures and the system will not replace volunteer background checks.
Trustees and staff noted training plans for front‑office staff and PTO involvement to communicate to families. The board discussed rollout logistics for high‑school vestibules and elementary building layouts and agreed to phased implementation where needed.
