Yamhill County approves contracts, road vacation and Newberg Boat Club permit in unanimous votes

Contracts and agreements - The board approved an employment contract with Tim Simmons for accreditation, administration and background investigation services at $45 per hour, not to exceed 20 hours per week, effective upon execution through June 30, 2029. - The board approved a personal services contract between Yamhill County Health & Human Services and LanguageLine Services Inc. for language translation, interpreting and testing services retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2031, with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $250,000. - Commissioners approved Amendment No.1 to agreement #177708 with the Oregon Health Authority (board order 22‑302) to extend the term to Dec. 31, 2027.
Road vacation and support letter - The board adopted a board order approving petition RV‑1‑2025 to vacate a portion of a dedicated but undeveloped public right‑of‑way near Southwest Sunnyside Lane and Brightridge Road in Sheridan, pursuant to ORS 368.351. - Commissioners voted to submit a letter of support for Community Home Builders (a program that secures USDA loans to build owner‑participation homes), noting ongoing projects in Dayton and Amity.
Mass gathering permit - During a public hearing the board approved a mass gathering permit application from Newberg Boat Club/Columbia Outboard Racing Association for the 2026 Memorial Weekend Boat Races at Rogers Landing. The applicant requested exclusive use of Rogers Landing from Friday evening through midnight Sunday, and camping beginning May 21; commissioners agreed to waive most of the application fee and retain a $250 fee to cover the required legal newspaper notification.
All motions passed unanimously. Several commissioners and staff noted these were routine approvals, and staff indicated minor edits or required documentation would be finalized and returned to the board as needed.
