Huachuca Art Association opens eighth annual judged show in Sierra Vista

Lori Gilberto of the Huachuca Art Association appeared on First Watch to describe the group’s eighth annual open judged art show and gallery activities. The association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is hosting the show at 1835 Paseo San Luis with public hours Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., and a judging and awards schedule this Saturday.
"Our mission is to bring art to the community," Gilberto said, outlining how the open show allows nonmembers to enter and compete alongside member artists. She described three separate judging categories — three-dimensional work, wall art and photography — and said the event includes a youth division and a month-long "treasure hunt" activity for visitors through Feb. 28.
The public can also participate in a People's Choice vote that runs through tomorrow at 4:45 p.m., with prize and award announcements at 5 p.m. The gallery will hold a critique with judges from 1 to 3 p.m. before the open-house reception. Gilberto encouraged area artists and families to visit the Huachuca Art Association’s website and Facebook page for details and class schedules.
