Board approves routine variances, continues several items to Oct. 16
Summary
The Board of Adjustment approved several small variances for residential and sign code matters (including three variances for single‑family properties and a sign variance for a historic site), deferred several items (including accessory building and carport requests) to Oct. 16, and set follow‑up tasks for applicants to provide neighbor letters or HOA approvals.

The Board of Adjustment approved a series of relatively routine variances and continued several requests for additional information.
Early on the agenda the board received the minutes from Sept. 18 and approved a one‑foot side‑yard variance (case 16065) to resolve an encroachment at 6504 SE 84th St. The board also approved design/sign variances for a rooftop sign on 5100 Class And Circle (case 16066) and a front‑yard setback variance for 19612 Taggart Drive (case 16064). For the accessory building case at 2717 Palazzo Circle (case 16067), board members requested a neighbor letter from the immediately adjacent homeowner; the applicant agreed and the board continued the item to Oct. 16 so the applicant can supply that documentation.
An applicant seeking a larger carport (28 by 30 feet versus the typical 24 by 30) at 3309 Quail Creek Road asked to preserve the home’s mid‑century character; the board asked the applicant to confirm whether an HOA or architectural review committee applies and to provide clearer design details. The board continued that case to Oct. 16 to allow the applicant to obtain HOA confirmation and submit drawings.
At the Oct. 2 hearing staff repeatedly reminded applicants to supply documentation supporting variance requests, and board members emphasized they want concrete evidence and neighbor input before changing long‑standing ordinance requirements. Several motions to continue were granted where applicants agreed to return with more complete exhibits or neighborhood support.
