The City of West Columbia City Council adopted a resolution honoring Dr. Arnold Ehler for his retirement from the South Carolina Department of Public Health and presented service pins to multiple city employees for milestone years of service.
Miss Huffman read the resolution recognizing Dr. Ehler's background in emergency medical services and leadership roles within state public-health agencies; the council moved, seconded and unanimously adopted the resolution. Dr. Ehler (referred to in the transcript as Doctor Elliott/Ehler) was present and invited forward to receive congratulations.
City staff member Carrie Garrett presented service pins to employees reaching five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25-, 30- and 35-year milestones. Names read into the record included Irina Mota (investigations), James Hyatt (fire), James Inman (sanitation), Mike Haines (Maintenance), Haley Kale (parks), Matt Cobb and Ted Reuter (Water Plant), Ronald Fair and Paige McGraw (police), Rachel Nance (25 years, dispatcher), Mary Hall Oliver (30 years), and Cindy Weber (35 years, clerk of court). Garrett praised the employees and their families for supporting long service to the city and noted the city's appreciation.
The resolution and recognitions were taken early in the agenda and were recorded as unanimous actions in the meeting minutes.
