Bernards Township Board elects Jennifer White president, Dave Shaw vice president

At its reorganization meeting, the Bernards Township Board of Education elected Jennifer White as board president by an 8–1 roll-call vote and elected David (Dave) Shaw as vice president unanimously.

During nominations, Mister Shaw nominated Jennifer White for president and Mister Molinari nominated David Shaw. After nominations were closed, the roll-call vote for Jennifer White recorded eight yes votes and one no vote (Mister Molinari). The subsequent vice-presidential nomination for Dave Shaw was approved by unanimous roll call.

The board also approved routine items including the meeting schedule, minutes and personnel items by roll call; several of those votes recorded an abstention by Mister Lefkowitz. Administration reminded members to submit signed code of ethics forms before leaving the meeting.

Outgoing leadership offered brief remarks. The resigning president called serving an honor and expressed hopes for a productive year of collaboration among trustees. The board will collect committee preferences from members and plans to vote on final committee assignments and board goals at upcoming meetings, with a formal vote on board goals scheduled for the January 26 meeting.

Next steps: committee preferences will be solicited by district staff and committee appointments finalized in February; the board will vote on the draft board goals at the next scheduled meeting.
