At its Feb. 3 meeting the Rules, Confirmations & Public Elections Committee interviewed and acted on multiple board and commission nominations.
The committee recommended Marcus Booth for appointment to the Contracting & Compliance Board (term expiring 09/03/2026) after Booth described his union experience and workplace-safety perspectives; members praised his involvement in the IBEW and building-trades organizations. The committee approved the recommendation by voice vote.
Don Cusick and Laura Rose were reappointed to the Historical Commission (terms expiring 02/03/2030 and 01/29/2030, respectively). Cusick described his long involvement in Nashville music history and said the commission has worked to recognize sites such as Jefferson Street, while acknowledging that many initiatives begin privately. Members asked about equitable implementation of historical protections and staff transitions after recent legislative changes; both reappointments were approved.
The committee also placed three nominees on the consent recommendation to the full council: Quan Pool (Civil Service Commission), Maury Hill (Greenway & Open Space Commission), and Anne Butterworth (Transportation Licensing Commission). By contrast, the reappointment of Shalan Haji to the Action Commission (term through 02/02/2029) was deferred for one meeting; the transcript records the deferral vote as 8 to 0 to 0.
