The Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee on Jan. 28 recommended two nominees to the Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority to the full Senate and placed the confirmations on the consent calendar.
Jim Griffiths, representing the Authority, introduced Karen Wagsland as a candidate to continue representing the Yampa-White Basin and Roy Heald for the Arkansas River Basin vacancy. Wagsland described four years of prior service on the board and said she hoped to serve another term. Heald, a general manager for Security Water and Sanitation District, told the committee he has 43 years of experience in water and wastewater operations and a background in accounting and finance.
Committee members thanked the nominees for their service; no substantive questions were asked. The Vice Chair moved a favorable recommendation to the full Senate. The clerk recorded the committee’s roll-call votes and the nominations were recommended unanimously and placed on the consent calendar.
The committee did not take further action on the nominations during the meeting; placement on the consent calendar means the full Senate could confirm them as part of its consent agenda unless a senator removes them for separate consideration.
