The Delhi Township Board of Trustees on Jan. 28 adopted two resolutions authorizing the township administrator to enter into agreements to provide school resource officers (SROs) for Our Lady of Victory School and Saint Dominic School.
The measures—Resolution 2026-0008 and Resolution 2026-0009—were introduced, the board dispensed with second readings, and both were adopted by voice vote. The police chief said negotiations on the agreements began in September and thanked the township attorney and administrator for assistance finalizing the contracts.
"It's gonna allow for a police officer to be assigned to each school and obviously not only provide security, but they're also gonna help teach classes and help with traffic after school," the chief said. He added that "the school will actually will pay for the salary and the friends benefits while they the officers are at the school," describing the payments as a financial benefit to the department and township.
Trustees welcomed the agreements, with one trustee saying the SROs are a positive step to help keep children safe while noting hope that the officers’ presence would not be needed for crisis response.
What happens next: the administrator will execute the agreements and the township will track officer assignments and any operational details required by the contracts.
