Board agrees to investigate potential sale of small parcel of West Pointe property to enable developer access

The board directed staff to investigate a developer request to purchase roughly 2–2.5 acres of a 16.5‑acre district‑owned site at West Pointe to allow a road extension and access to an adjacent development.
Mister Leffel showed a map and explained that without a parcel for road extension the developer’s land at the east of the district property would be effectively landlocked. He said the district typically plans elementary schools on about 12 acres and that selling the small piece would still leave adequate acreage for a future elementary if needed.
Board members supported staff taking initial steps: surveying and creating a parcel, obtaining a legal description and appraisal, and returning with an offer only after those costs were incurred by the developer or after further staff work. The motion was to allow staff to look at the potential sale and was approved by voice vote.
