Superintendent unveils large slate of principals, assistant principals and interns

The Davis County School District superintendent presented a broad slate of administrative assignments at the April 16 board meeting, introducing new principals, assistant principals and administrative interns for the coming school year.

"We will…introduce all of these folks," Superintendent Dr. Linford said as appointees appeared remotely and in the room. "This is a little bit of a circus, but it's our circus, and it's fun." The appointments covered elementary, junior-high and high-school leadership positions across the district.

District materials and on-stage introductions named many nominees and their new assignments. Among the principal-level announcements were Nisha Kilpak as principal at the VISTA Center; Hayden Call as principal at Bountiful Junior High; Dennis Ray as principal at West Point Junior High; and Jim Hansen as principal at Mill Creek Junior High. The board also heard brief introductions from new elementary principals (for example, Jenny Talbot and Christy Carson) and from multiple secondary assistant principals and administrative interns (including Justin Brooks, Kevin Hargraves and Katie Frederickson).

Several appointees described their backgrounds in classrooms and administration, underscoring experience in special education, instructional coaching and career-technical partnerships. The board noted district partnerships, including a referenced collaboration with Davis Technical College that supports student access to vocational training.

Board members praised the work of staff who participated in the hiring process and welcomed the new administrators. Several appointees thanked family members in the audience and said they were eager to begin the next school year.

There was no separate vote recorded in the public minutes at this meeting to approve the slate (the segment served as formal introductions); board members said they looked forward to seeing the administrators in their new roles.
