During public comment at the Feb. 2 Bryan City Council meeting, resident Mister Cox described a missed Monday trash pickup in the Eastland Estates neighborhood during heavy snowfall and said no follow-up pickup occurred that week, leaving full containers and no room for additional refuse.
Mister Cox asked whether Republic Services had been contacted and requested that the city pursue a refund for missed service. Council members and staff responded that the franchise contract is with Republic Services, that the onus is generally on customers to call the contractor’s local number, and that Republic posts service-delay notices on its website. Counsel and other staff present said Republic reported drivers attempted to perform make-up pickups as shift schedules allowed and that, when contacted, Republic had instructed customers to leave extra bags for collection and indicated there would be no extra charge for double pickups arranged during the recovery period.
Council members agreed to provide contact information and to confirm whether the city clerk’s office could assist residents who lack internet access. The exchange concluded without a formal motion; staff urged residents to call the local Republic number and said the clerk’s office maintains handouts with the contractor contact information.
