The Cemetery District board reported it finalized a contract with Sloan Consulting and will begin a month‑long market study to estimate expected transactions, service mix and potential market area.
"As your call, we approved, entering into an agreement with Sloan Consulting, and, we executed the agreement, just before the end of the year," said Speaker 4, who led the item. Sloan’s initial work will map how many burials, cremations and interments the district might expect, and will advise on possible service offerings that could generate revenue while serving local residents in Snyderville Basin and parts of Summit County, the board said.
Why it matters: the market and site study will shape whether the district proceeds with a local cemetery, what services it offers, and how it scales operations and revenues. Board members noted the district may serve residents of Snyderville Basin, Park City and other parts of the county; the consultant will outline a market area and options.
Details: Sloan’s first month will focus on market research and a preliminary assessment of site and service choices. The board discussed having a landscape architect from Sloan’s team visit the site and noted that Sloan could present a short slide demonstration at an upcoming meeting so the board can evaluate offerings and revenue scenarios. Payment terms discussed included an upfront deposit and a final invoice at contract completion; members said interim payments are possible but the firm prefers a final payment model.
Next steps: the board will hold regular monthly status meetings to receive updates from Sloan and will use the consultant’s findings to inform site selection and permitting steps. Members also flagged community concerns from nearby subdivisions (discussed separately) and said they will invite community representatives to upcoming sessions where appropriate.
The board did not take a formal vote on any site approval during the discussion; Sloan’s research will precede any land‑use or acquisition decisions.
