Mayor announces reappointments to multiple Lebanon City boards, citing experience and residency requirements

Mayor Sherry Alcopello used the communications section to announce several reappointments across city advisory and pension boards.

She said Martin Yoakam was reappointed to the City of Lebanon Authority for a five‑year term effective 2026-01-02 and thanked him for roughly 20 years of service. The mayor also announced reappointments to the Police Pension Fund board (Jan Yocom, Terrence Freeman, Gregory Lee, Chief Eric Simms, Sgt. Ryan Mung and Travis Piddock) for four‑year terms effective 2026-01-02; she noted officer seats are voted by the union and resident seats require city residency.

The mayor announced career firefighter appointments (Bridal Otto, Alan Firestein, Martin Yocum and Gregory Howard) to the Paid Fireman’s Pension Fund board for four years starting 2026-01-03 and said the city typically seeks residents with banking or financial backgrounds for pension board seats because of fiduciary responsibilities and actuarial reviews.

For the Board of Health, Alcopello said the composition is defined in the city codified ordinances (Section 11 o 1.01) and includes the mayor, the fire chief, a Department of Public Safety employee, the health officer (referred to in the meeting as "Doc Yoakam") and one resident. She explained the board handles public‑health reporting, restaurant and sanitation inspections and property maintenance enforcement, and cited an example of recent reportable cases gathered from health providers.

Council members asked how residents learn about openings; the mayor said the city posts vacancies at meetings, via e‑blasts and in newsletters and encourages interested residents to contact the mayor’s office.

None of the reappointments were recorded as final council votes during the meeting; the announcements were made in the communications section for later processing as required.
