The Freetown‑Lakeville Regional School Committee voted Feb. 4 to adopt Option B — a school calendar that begins before Labor Day — after district staff presented results of an internal survey showing a strong preference for that model.
A committee member moved to approve Option B and the motion was seconded; the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded objections. Administrators said the district will begin planning professional development for the next school year and make the approved calendar available to families as soon as possible.
District staff noted the survey was sent by email to staff with a one‑week response window and that the results (reported in the presentation as roughly 83.6% in favor) guided the recommendation. The committee thanked staff for running the survey and said the faster calendar will help with planning for both staff and families.
