The board approved Board Policy 552 (intradistrict open enrollment) after trustees accepted an amendment adding a superintendent-level appeal process for denied or unresponded applications. The board also approved Board Policy 816 (automated school bus stop arm camera system) on its second reading; staff said the district already has two buses with cameras (Gatekeeper) and that implementation and any vendor MOU will be completed before the 2026–27 school year.
On procurement, after reviewing three appraisal proposals that ranged substantially in price and turnaround, the board appointed Ben Johnson of Johnson Appraisals to perform the district appraisal under NRS 393.24; trustees and an online commenter emphasized the importance of turnaround time. The board also authorized a declaration of intent to dispose of district surplus property (vehicles and equipment) pursuant to NRS 332.185, with a clerical correction to some vehicle-year entries noted.
All recorded motions passed by unanimous voice vote; the board recorded no opposing votes for the items addressed. Staff noted that auction proceeds from surplus property will be deposited to the general fund and that proceeds from fines related to stop-arm camera enforcement are expected to be reinvested in equipment.
