The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture will hold the Western Tennessee Grain & Soybean Conference on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Dyer County Fairgrounds in Dyersburg, organizers said. The day runs from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is free and open to all.
Tate Cronin, a marketing specialist with the UT AgCenter, described the program as education-focused, with a trade show and a series of presentations beginning at 9 a.m. "If you've ever attended any of our events, we're really big on education," Cronin said, adding that the conference includes seven speakers and multiple presentations on relevant agricultural topics.
Cronin noted that producers face a difficult start to 2026 after two poor growing seasons in 2024 and 2025 and said the conference will emphasize farm financial management. "As many as 30 percent of Tennessee row crop farmers are struggling financially going into '26," he said. Cronin also pointed listeners to the online agenda at conference.utcrops.com for details and preregistration information.
Organizers said anyone with an interest in agriculture is welcome; no prior experience is required and the event is free of charge.
