Council sets May 2 election date, approves interlocal with Henderson County and reappoints municipal judge

City Secretary Janet Dillard read Ordinance O‑2026‑001 calling a general election for May 2, 2026, to elect mayor and two council members to three-year terms; the ordinance establishes early-voting dates and polling-place procedures consistent with the Texas Election Code and the city's contract with Henderson County. Council voted to adopt the ordinance.
Council also approved an interlocal agreement with Henderson County to conduct the city's May election at an estimated cost of about $3,500 (subject to change if other jurisdictions join). Staff noted filing deadlines for candidates and that the city is a designated polling location. The council accepted resignations from two EDC members and reappointed Bradley Stevens as municipal judge for a two-year term after staff and council members praised his work.
Council also tabled board applicant interviews to the next meeting because an applicant could not attend. The meeting concluded with approval of the city strategic priorities and adjournment.
