Vaughn cautioned the application has a low probability ("probably 20% chance") of success but said the city should keep applying.
Brooke Atkinson presented a request to enter a publicity and tourism agreement to provide a $5,000 Hotel/Motel Fund sponsorship for the Texas Bassmaster state championship planned for Sept. 9–12, 2026, at Tom Finley Park; staff cited prior event surveys and estimated economic impact of about $88,500 based on participant lodging and spending. Council approved all three items by recorded vote.
