Waycross Community Media says it produced 70 programs for Forest Park in 2025, asks for volunteers

Diana Herbie, chair of Waycross Community Media and a longtime Forest Park resident, told the City Council on Feb. 2 that Waycross produced 70 programs for the city in 2025 and is seeking volunteers to help create and run community programming.
Herbie said Waycross distributes content on cable and online platforms, including 23 council meeting broadcasts, studio programs about community events, coverage of Forest Park events (concerts, Harvest Fest, tree lighting), and student‑produced work from a Waycross summer film workshop. She highlighted the station’s role in covering Whitin Woods School District events, and noted that Waycross also produced a special program about Forest Fair Mall before it was demolished.
Herbie said many Waycross programs are volunteer‑driven and that the station needs more adult volunteers to train on camera work and production for sports and music programming. “If you are going to create a program for yourself, they may want you to take a couple classes with a small nominal fee,” she said, adding that resident‑produced programming is available at no cost to Forest Park residents.
Council members and staff thanked Waycross for its work; the city clerk and others were asked to note volunteer recruitment and ways to promote Waycross resources. No formal council action was taken.
