JD Appling, president and CEO of the Pro Football Capital Museum Foundation, thanked the council for last year’s recognition of Beaumont as the professional football capital and said a 2026 gala is scheduled for July 11, 2026; he presented a mayoral letter of support and said the museum could spur downtown revenue and hotel development.
JD Appling, president and CEO of the Pro Football Capital Museum Foundation, presented to the city council and thanked officials for last year’s event that declared Beaumont the “professional football capital of the world.” He said the foundation’s next gala is scheduled for July 11, 2026, and asked council members to continue support for a downtown professional football museum.
Appling read part of an affirmation letter dated Oct. 23, 2025 from the mayor expressing the city’s support for the museum project. He described the museum as a way to “enhance regional and national visibility for our city” and argued it could generate revenue and help build a downtown hotel.
“Beaumont was the football capital of the world, and it is,” Appling said, and later asked the room to repeat the foundation’s phrase, “the professional football capital of the world museum.” He thanked local supporters by name and handed out community shirts to attendees.
The presentation consisted of a public acknowledgment and an ask for continued community and city support; the council did not take formal action on the proposal during the session. Appling finished by thanking the mayor, council and local partners for their involvement.
