Beaumont council clears consent agenda and approves several contracts and interlocal agreements

Beaumont City Council approved its consent agenda with one item (item f) pulled for separate discussion, then moved through several contract and agreement items during the meeting and approved them by voice vote.

Items approved included:

- A consent agenda approval with item f removed for separate consideration (motion carried by voice vote). - Authorization to submit a $1,900,000 grant application for Alice Keith Park enhancements (see separate article). - A resolution authorizing the city manager to execute an interlocal agreement with ExxonMobil Corporation for sanitary sewer improvements on Taj Street and Josie Street; ExxonMobil will pay up to $300,000 toward the project, and staff said the city will provide additional funding if needed from its sewer line replacement budget but ExxonMobil’s contribution is capped. - An award of contract to Texas Materials Group, Inc., Beaumont, for the Highland Avenue Roadway Rehabilitation Project; staff said storm sewer cleaning has already reduced flooding complaints on Highland Avenue and some work has begun. - An ordinance authorizing the city to participate in Entergy Texas Inc.’s 2026 regulatory proceedings through the regional steering committee that negotiates utility terms on behalf of member cities. - Authorization for the city manager to execute supplemental agreement number 1 to the advanced funding agreement (AFA) with the Texas Department of Transportation. - A resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a contract with Maguire Iron Inc. of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Most motions were moved and seconded without roll-call tallies; the record shows voice votes and that each motion “carried.”
