The Finance & Economic Development Committee approved converting a prior $5,000 loan to the Northwest SEP into a grant, conditioned on the SEP completing the county’s community contribution form and attaching audited financials.
A staff member reminded the panel the SEP had originally requested a loan; several counties that participate in the SEP program are converting their loans to grants because the program supports local employment. One committee member noted they have used SEP workers in the past and supported the conversion.
The committee’s motion to convert the loan into a grant included a requirement that SEP complete the standard community contribution paperwork (including financial reports) to create a consistent paper trail for community contributions. The motion passed; one supervisor, Blake, recorded an abstention.
