Britney, who coordinates addressing, explained there are multiple application types: (1) address assignment on taxable county land; (2) nontaxable land or reservation lands at reduced cost; (3) replacement sign/post requests; and (4) private road name applications, which include a town share for the physical sign. She recommended adding these categories to the official fee schedule rather than increasing the standard application fee.
Carisha, who receives applications, told the committee the county hears frequent complaints about fees and supports not raising the standard application fee; she described the workflow (GPS point collection, sign ordering, and installation by highway or town crews) and the staff time required. Committee members discussed consolidating similar fees (e.g., sanitary permit renewal/transfer) and affirmed adding the addressing categories to the schedule. Staff noted they will propose modest increases on certain print/map services where imagery raises costs and recommended leaving rarely used boathouse fees in place.
The committee asked staff to prepare revised fee language and a table for future action; no vote was taken on a final fee schedule at this meeting.
