The Republic City Council approved a package of ordinances on second reading, finalizing annexations, a zoning classification change, updates to sign overlay rules and a revised purchasing policy.
Laura (city staff reading ordinance titles) presented each ordinance by title. The council gave final passage to Bill 26‑01, an amendment addressing sinkholes and karst features in the subdivision regulations; Bill 26‑02, annexing approximately 70.83 acres at 7275 West Farm Road 144; Bill 26‑03, annexing approximately 9.85 acres at 7395 West Farm Road 144; Bill 26‑04, rezoning approximately 0.33 acres at 641 North College Avenue from R1M to R2; Bill 26‑05, amending commercial sign overlay district regulations; and Bill 26‑06, adopting a revised municipal purchasing policy and related administrative code updates.
Most items drew no extended debate. Councilmember Dan Harder thanked Mr. Ford for incorporating previously requested changes to the sign‑regulation language. Councilmember Gerke clarified during the purchasing policy discussion that applying for grants does not obligate the city to accept or expend funds unless council later approves any awarded funds.
Roll‑call tallies recorded in the meeting transcript were either unanimous approval (recorded as 7–0–0) for most items or, for the zoning amendment at 641 North College Avenue, a recorded vote of 5–0 (as stated in the transcript). Where individual yes/no tallies were not read aloud, council members were recorded present for roll call.
The newly adopted ordinances will be reflected in the municipal code and applicable property records. Several items (annexation maps, updated sign overlay map and purchasing policy text) were submitted during the meeting and are public records.
