Penn-Trafford board approves consent agenda, extracurricular trips and spring coaching hires

Penn-Trafford’s board approved routine business items and several personnel and extracurricular requests during its Feb. 2 meeting.

The board first moved to approve the consent agenda with item f removed for separate consideration; the motion passed by voice vote. Item f, covering extracurricular trips, then returned to the floor and was approved after board discussion. Approved trips included a boys basketball trip to Lititz, wrestling tournaments in Brookville and Hershey, cheerleading to the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, baseball spring training in Cocoa Beach (March 20), a color guard regional event in Coatesville, and FBLA representation at the state leadership conference in Hershey.

Separately, the board approved a slate of spring athletic and extracurricular positions (coaches and assistants across baseball, softball, tennis, track, volleyball and middle-school roles). The board noted that salaries are set by negotiated agreement and that new employment is contingent on receipt of required Pennsylvania clearances (Act 34, 151, 114) within 30 days.

Why it matters: approval of trips and coaching hires commits district resources and authorizes staff and students to participate in out-of-district competitions and conferences. The vote also ensures schools have assigned coaches and program leaders for spring activities.
