"The CIC or commonly referred to as the Community Improvement Corporation is a tool, under Ohio Revised Code 1724.01," the mayor said, explaining that the vehicle can be used for financing and acquisitions to revitalize areas such as Liberty Ford, the downtown core, and other commercial strips. The mayor cited examples including businesses and corridors (Dunkin' Donuts, Qdoba) and described the city's trail and Solon Connects sidewalk and multiuse path initiatives as potential beneficiaries of CIC authority.
The mayor also noted that the city’s planning director has prior experience using the CIC and that staff will evaluate opportunities as redevelopment projects take shape. The CIC meeting adjourned and council reconvened; council recorded the officer appointments for the CIC during the meeting.
