The Rio Grande City Commission unanimously approved a resolution appointing Roy Garza to the Rio Grande City Economic Development Corporation on Jan. 28.
Mayor called for the motion to accept the resignation of David Reyna and to appoint Roy Garza; the motion was seconded and carried with all commissioners voting in favor. After the vote, Garza told the commission, “I accept,” and thanked the mayor, commission and city manager for the opportunity to serve his community.
The resolution (No. 2026-07) formalizes the EDC board change and allows Garza to participate in the corporation’s work to support local business attraction and development. No additional budgetary action was attached to the appointment in the meeting discussion.
The commission did not debate alternatives or propose an interim appointment; commissioners closed the item and welcomed Garza to upcoming EDC work and events.
