Philomath council approves consent agenda and confirms citizen board and committee appointments

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Philomath City Council approved routine items and confirmed several citizen appointments.
The consent agenda—containing the Dec. 9 meeting minutes and the 2025–26 budget calendar—passed with four councilors voting in favor and one abstention from a councilor who missed the Dec. 9 meeting.
Council recognized multiple volunteers completing terms on city committees and then moved through appointment items. The council directed staff to re-advertise two open planning commission positions after no applications were received. Council appointed Van Hunsaker to a three-year term on the budget committee and directed staff to continue recruiting for the remaining citizen slots.
The council confirmed the mayor’s recommended appointments to the park advisory board (Yvonne McMillan, Larry Sleeman, Seth Williams) and reappointed Graham to the tree board. The council also appointed Rose Bricker and Jenna Fisher to two-year terms on the Inclusivity Ad Hoc Committee. All of the appointment motions recorded in the meeting minutes passed unanimously.
Councilors discussed the League of Oregon Cities' Day at the Capitol in Salem and encouraged interested members to reply to a forthcoming email about attendance. The city manager gave a management report covering an upcoming city hall remodel bid schedule and a stable water reservoir following repairs.
