Philomath Lions Club outlines local programs, seeks volunteers

Wright said the club focuses its fundraising locally, supporting vision and hearing assistance programs, school activities (including a flags program for second graders and Reading Across America book distributions), athletic support and scholarships, and community events such as the fireworks booth and a major July book sale that funds most of the club’s activities. He told the council the Lions had contributed “about $13,000” to the Cougar Building and noted the club has about 15 members and is recruiting newcomers.
Mayor Christopher McMoran and other councilors thanked the group for its volunteerism. Wright invited anyone new to the community or retirees seeking engagement to contact the Lions for membership and volunteer opportunities.
Next steps: Club will continue outreach and the council acknowledged the group’s role in several community events.
