Commission approves road construction contract and elevator service agreement

Public Works recommended awarding the first phase of the Sheep's Bridge Road project (paving the first half-mile from SR-9 down to the bridge) to Interstate Rock Products, the local low bidder, for $374,511.44. Staff said this phase will reduce dust and improve residential access; funding is in the department budget and the bid was below the engineer's estimate. The commission approved the contract by voice vote.
Separately, staff recommended an annual service, maintenance and testing agreement for the county administration building parking garage elevators. After competitive solicitation, Chandler Elevator (Schindler was another bidder) was presented as the most cost-effective for a multi-elevator annual service option (staff cited an annual price example of approximately $828). Commissioners voted to approve the elevator service agreement.
Both approvals were passed by voice vote and staff said the contracts will proceed under the terms presented in the meeting packet.
