Arcadia council unanimously elects Kimberly White as mayor; Stacy Atkins Salazar named vice mayor

Kimberly White was elected mayor of Arcadia by her City Council on Dec. 11, the council confirmed during a special hybrid meeting. The council moved and seconded the nomination under the city's rotational process and approved it by voice vote.
The nomination was made "based on the rotation," citing Arcadia Municipal Code section 20 20, the council said during the meeting. Councilors offered public commendations to outgoing Mayor Alex Stillman for decades of service before calling the question and approving White's elevation.
Public commenters praised Stillman's record. "She first joined the city council in 1972, became the first woman ever elected to that body, and served as mayor from 1974 to 1978," said Shannon Yodowitz during the public comment period, citing Stillman's long service and local conservation and transportation work. Stillman responded from the dais, "I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and for acknowledging me and my years of service." After the mayoral vote, the council moved to fill the vice mayor post. Council member Stacy Atkins Salazar was nominated and seconded and approved by voice vote. Councilors exchanged congratulations and noted the ceremonial and representative role the vice mayor will hold in 2026.
