City postpones final approval of Mayor’s Hog Ball alcohol permit pending Main Street review

Commissioners raised concerns that the city's letter of permission could be read as a city sponsorship and asked that the Main Street board, which has authority over Festival District restrictions, review and approve the site plan for the restricted area.
The commission agreed to place updates on the February workshop agenda, route the special-occasion permit to the Sweetwater Beer Board for review, and then return both the letter of permission and the beer-board item for action at the March meeting. Commissioners emphasized standard safeguards for service — wristbands, licensed servers, and an alcohol service cutoff an hour before the posted end time.
No final approval of the special-occasion service area was granted at this meeting; staff will share the site map with the Main Street executive board and report back.
