The village had budgeted $200,000 for rock salt and staff requested the full authorization as a precaution even though they expect to use between half and three‑quarters of the authorized amount.
Trustees asked whether Deerfield has sufficient storage. Bob described the village storage building as roughly 100 feet by 40 feet and about 30 feet high with rolling doors sized to receive semitrailers; with that footprint staff said the building will accommodate roughly 1,500 tons when stacked. The board approved the purchase by roll call.
The purchase covers deliveries through June under the county contract; staff said a new bidding cycle and contract will be initiated for the 2026–27 snow season.
