Deerfield board renews emergency dispatch agreements with Bannockburn and Riverwoods

Deerfield trustees on Jan. 12 approved two resolutions to renew the village’s emergency dispatch service agreements with the villages of Bannockburn and Riverwoods, officials said.
Steve Petarelli, who presented the dispatch item for the police department, told trustees the Bannockburn contract is a renewal of an existing five‑year agreement and that Riverwoods’ agreement is “pretty much a clone” of Bannockburn’s, bringing Deerfield into alignment with other towns it dispatches for. “We’re all gonna be in line with all the towns that we dispatch for,” Petarelli said.
Board members asked only clarifying questions; trustees moved and passed each resolution by roll call. Petarelli noted Riverwoods and Bannockburn were in the process of signing their companion agreements and thanked department staff for coordinating across jurisdictions.
The approvals formalize the continued intergovernmental partnership for emergency dispatching and were presented as routine renewals rather than changes to service structure. The board’s votes mean Deerfield will continue using consolidated dispatch arrangements for the next contract period.
The village did not provide additional details in the meeting about contract value, operational changes, or implementation dates.
