The Board of Supervisors on Feb. 3 adopted a proclamation recognizing February 2026 as National Children’s Dental Health Month in Trinity County. Kirsten Ford and Caitlin Noble of the Trinity County local oral health program described early‑education and screening efforts and said county kindergarten screenings show approximately 1 in 4 children have untreated tooth decay by age 5.
"Good oral health is foundational to children’s overall health," Ford said, noting the local 'Brush in a Box' initiative now reaches more than 100 children under age 5. The board approved the proclamation and members thanked local partners who run school screenings and education.
The proclamation encourages schools, early childhood programs and health providers to promote prevention, screening and regular dental visits.
