The Indio City Council approved a slate of routine items and made one appointment during the meeting.
Councilmember Ortiz nominated Michael Slater to the Mobile Home and Fair Practices Commission; after a motion and second the council voted and welcomed Slater to the commission.
The council then considered the consent calendar. Councilmember Furman pulled items 11.5 and 11.9 for discussion and the mayor recused from item 11.11 as noted on the record. The mayor signaled a correction to the ordinance number on item 11.6; after the clerical change and brief discussion the consent calendar was approved by motion and voice vote.
On item 11.9 council discussion flagged the potential to shift contracted janitorial services to an in-house model for long-term maintenance continuity and local hiring. City staff said they will evaluate the transition as part of the mid-year budget review and return with cost/benefit analysis and implementation timing.
All consent actions passed with recorded 'Aye' votes. The meeting packet identifies items pulled for discussion; staff will bring back requested analyses at a future date.
