Council asks staff for presentation on photo enforcement cameras and orders review of ethics code

Councilman Adam Klosman asked the city manager to agendize a presentation from law enforcement about photo enforcement cameras, including speed detection and red-light cameras, their efficacy, and funding mechanisms. Vice Mayor Jan De Boscas asked the police chief's views, and the motion to direct the city manager to agendize or investigate the topic was seconded and approved.
Separately, Councilman Klosman asked the city attorney to perform a comprehensive review of Scottsdale Revised Code Chapter 2 related to the code of ethical behavior and return with recommendations. The city attorney said such a review would require council direction because it directly affects council members; the council voted to direct the city attorney to investigate and prepare a work study or report.
Both actions were approved by the council and will be scheduled for follow-up discussion in future meetings.
