Peachtree Corners council elects Phil Saad as vice mayor; reappoints zoning-board member

Peachtree Corners — The City Council swore in three recently reelected councilmembers and reorganized leadership during its meeting, approving a reappointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals and electing Phil Saad as vice mayor for the 2026 term.
Councilman Eric Christ, Joe Sawyer and Weyr Gratwick were identified by the city manager as recently reelected; an official administering the oath led each through the statutory oath referencing the U.S. and Georgia constitutions and the city charter. After his swearing, Councilman Eric Christ thanked supporters and said he did not have an opponent in the election, adding, “Hopefully, that that means that, I'm doing a good job.”
The council approved routine business at the start of the meeting, including a motion to adopt the minutes of Dec. 17. The motion was moved, seconded and carried by a raised-hands vote; the transcript records the approval but does not include a roll-call tally of individual votes.
The council also considered a resolution to reappoint Josh Stevens to the Zoning Board of Appeals. A motion to approve the reappointment was moved, seconded and approved by a raised-hands vote; individual vote tallies were not recorded in the meeting transcript.
In leadership business, one long-serving council member withdrew his own name from consideration for vice mayor and urged the council to consider revising how the vice mayor is designated in a future work session. “I remove my name, from consideration as vice mayor for the 2026 term,” the councilman said, and then nominated Phil Saad for the position.
