Diane Davis, speaking as secretary of the Columbiana Community Foundation, presented three grants to city officials at the Feb. 3 Columbiana City Council meeting.
Davis said the foundation awarded $3,500 to support the summer concert series held in Firestone Park; $10,000 to fund a columbarium, monument and seating at the cemetery; and $9,000 to improve disability access at the Firestone pools. Mayor and council thanked the foundation and noted the importance of these community-oriented projects; the mayor also recognized Greg Sipson for 10 years leading the concert series through the park board.
The mayor said the grants will support established community events and accessibility improvements. Davis's remarks included an organizational note that the foundation supports local projects; she also introduced the grants on behalf of the foundation.
The presentation concluded with council expressions of appreciation and no formal action required. The council packet and the Feb. 3 minutes reflect the amounts and intended uses as stated at the meeting.
