Brockton council confirms appointments, accepts grants and approves multiple orders

Appointments and confirmations: The council read and referred multiple mayoral appointments and confirmed several by roll call, including: Alan Parker (election commission, term to Sept. 2028); I. Orlando Spinola (Old Colony Planning Council delegate, term to Sept. 2025); Michael Avila (Parks & Recreation Commission, term to 09/20/2029); Shakiser R. Jackson (fire alarm operator, Brockton Fire Department); Jeffrey Costello (special police officer); Eileen Gatewood (Brockton Library Board of Trustees, term to Aug. 2027); and Irene Jeanopoulos (city auditor, three-year term). Grants and appropriations: The council adopted orders to accept and expend multiple grants, including a $50,000 award from the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust to DPW Water; $12,495 from the Massachusetts Council on Aging to the Council on Aging; a $15,000 grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts to Planning & Economic Development; several grants to the Brockton Police Department from the state 911 department (including amounts reported as $668,038 and $290,236.30); and a $94,463 award from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
