The City Council unanimously approved a consultant services agreement with Westwood Professional Services to design Sunset Park and provide engineering services. Parks staff presented the RFQ process, community outreach plans, and a negotiated contract amount of $174,405.
Staff described the scope as including conceptual plans based on community feedback, survey and environmental documentation, two feasible conceptual design alternatives, cost estimates and bid‑ready engineering drawings, and assistance through bidding and construction. The consultant will also help summarize ongoing maintenance needs and align community preferences with feasible options.
Joe Hebert (parks) noted the DIF fund balance was $4.2 million as of Jan. 27, with about $3 million encumbered for other projects; DIF cannot be used for ongoing maintenance. Council approved the contract and associated budget amendments for fiscal year 25‑26 by unanimous vote.
