The Oskaloosa City Council on Feb. 2 approved payment of $39,977.38 to consultants for testing and inspection services related to the natatorium at the early childhood recreation center.
Council was told the invoice covered concrete and soil testing, helical pier observations, and rebar placement inspections. A separate task order (No. 1) under a previously approved professional services resolution was also considered and approved; staff said it covers helical pile observations, earthwork observations, compaction testing, rebar and masonry special inspections, concrete testing, and structural steel/precast connections inspections.
Council moved and seconded both items; roll-call votes approved the payment and the task order. Staff noted additional special inspections and construction oversight will likely require further task orders as the project progresses.
No council member asked to remove these items from consent; staff said these services are necessary to support safe construction and code compliance.
