City staff used the council meeting to recognize community events, including the city’s 2026 Tournament of Roses float and winners of the 2025 holiday home decorating contest.
Director of Community Services Kylie Torres presented a short video recap of the Rose Float effort, noting the float received a Queen Award for outstanding use of roses. "So tonight, we are so proud to recognize the 2026 Santa Fe Springs Rose Float as a major community achievement," Torres said, and thanked Phoenix Decorating Company, the heritage arts advisory committee, staff and more than 500 volunteers who contributed to the effort. Torres said more than 4,600 patrons visited Heritage Park to view the float up close during the display period.
Separately, Library Service Manager Deborah Reyes read the top 10 winners of the 2025 holiday home decorating contest, listing winning addresses and homeowners and inviting present winners and committee members to pose for a group photo.
The recognition items were ceremonial and informational; no council action was required.
