Santa Fe Springs Planning Commission elects Gabriel Jimenez as chair, David Ayala as vice chair; consent calendar approved

At the start of the meeting the Santa Fe Springs Planning Commission conducted its annual reorganization. Community Development Director Quan Nguyen explained the staff recommendation to follow City Council’s tenure‑based rotation. Commissioners nominated and elected Gabriel Jimenez as chair and David Ayala as vice chair.
Joseph Flores nominated Jimenez for chair; the nomination was closed and approved by roll call vote, 5‑0. David Ayala was nominated and accepted for vice chair and was likewise approved 5‑0. Commissioners briefly discussed the seating order and placement of name signage.
Following the reorganization, the commission considered the consent calendar (items 1 and 2). The consent items were approved by roll call vote, 5‑0. The secretary noted a 14‑day appeal period for consent items and for later actions on the agenda.
The meeting proceeded to a public hearing on DPA Case No. 1014.
