Moore approves up to $35,000 agreement with WSB to pursue federal grant for Sunny Lane Bridge

The Moore City Council authorized an agreement on Feb. 2 not to exceed $35,000 with WSB to support a federal BUILD NOFO grant application to replace the Sunny Lane Bridge at Southeast 34th Street.
City staff said regular ODOT inspections recommended the bridge be replaced within five to six years; staff estimated a full replacement — including four lanes, sidewalk and a bicycle trail — could cost in the neighborhood of $6 million. The BUILD NOFO program requires projects to demonstrate a minimum total cost of $5 million to be eligible; staff said that made replacement, rather than a smaller repair, a better fit for the grant program.
WSB was the highest‑rated firm in the city's procurement process and would assist with preliminary engineering, cost‑benefit evaluations and the grant application. Staff referenced a prior successful application process in which the city spent about $35,000 on an application, received design funding and later secured construction money.
Council members moved, seconded and approved the agreement by unanimous vote. If the city pursues and wins the grant, staff said the program would require a roughly 20% local match and that the city would plan the matching funds as part of budget and project planning.
