Commissioners accept $5,000 US Aging disaster‑relief funds for senior services

Lincoln County Senior Services told the board it received a $5,000 allocation from the U.S. Aging disaster relief fund, distributed through the Area Agency on Aging to counties affected by Hurricane Hilleen.
Katherine Sain said the funds will be used to help seniors in the western part of the county with food, utility bills, small repairs, fuel and, with special approval from the Area Agency on Aging, to provide gravel for one resident whose driveway washed away in floodwaters. Sain said there is no county match and the funds must be expended by June 30.
Commissioner Patton moved to accept the donation and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
