The Middleton Common Council received a schedule this week for public engagement on the city's affordable housing action plan. Alder Hanayo said the workforce housing committee and the Community Development Authority will meet jointly on Jan. 8 to coordinate remarks for a Jan. 20 presentation to the council.
Alder Hanayo said the plan will subsequently go to the sustainability committee and the plan commission. She encouraged residents to attend an open house on Feb. 16 and noted the public comment period on the plan will close on Feb. 28.
The council member also flagged a Dane County Cities and Villages Association virtual meeting on Jan. 7 that will include updated county population projections and a brief presentation on a new funding opportunity for zoning code rewrites. Those materials, Hanayo said, may inform Middleton's housing work.
The timeline sets multiple opportunities for public input ahead of any formal council action on the plan. The council did not take a formal vote on the action plan at this meeting.
